We are going to feature a local artist every month!  This can include pottery, art, photography, jewelry making, etc.  Our goal is to introduce artist to you with truly unique products or services.  We will have a monthly event called First Friday where we will have a little get together to showcase the artist we have chosen for the month.  This event will take place on the first Friday of each month from 6:00 - 7:30. 

If you know of anyone with special talents who may be interested in being our featured artist one month, please have them send us an email with pictures of their work.

Our featured artist for the month of July is Mellisa Anders. She makes beautiful jewelry out of stones and crystals. We are having a reception party for her on Friday, June 27th from 6:00pm ~ 7:30pm. Stop by then of throughout the month of July to view her designs and get a unique piece for yourself!

"I love making functional pieces. The making is my favorite part; I feel like I am really doing something, making something with my hands that someone needs. I enjoy the engineering element of potting, tweaking forms for ultimate comfort and utility. I want everything I make to become someone's favorite dish; it's strange and exciting to have taken something through the whole process of making, glazing, and firing, throughout which it is has one context for me, and then sending it on its way to enter a completely new context as someone's object that they interact with on a daily basis. It's sort of like raising kids (my limited experience so far, at least): Frustrating sometimes, trying to raise the clay into the form I know it can and should be, when the clay is uncooperative; using what I know to make the best decisions when glazing and firing and still not really feeling like I know what I'm doing. And ultimately, the result of my efforts is a grown-up pot; it goes out into the world to be something else to someone else, and whether it turned out as I expected it to or not, I am proud of it."
